Joeys are always keen to explore nature and Scouting offers them a pathway into understanding, accepting and immersing themselves in nature. Through the unique opportunities Scouting offers, Joeys are able to grow, develop and learn through nature play.
With Caledonia Park and the Werribee River on our door step, how could the Joeys not go and explore. However, this was not just another bash through the bush, this was an immersion experience that helped our Joeys understand the natural world around them. Along the banks of the Werribee River the Joeys explored the grasslands getting to understand their unique texture, scent and strength. Within the Werribee River our Joeys learnt about river flow, rocks and macroinvertebrates. While Calendonia Park offered them mini beasts, seeds and shelter. Then at the end of the walk their learning was consolidated through journals. A magnificent day that provided a fun educational experience.
