EXPEDITION REVIEW
Working together on a project for nearly two years helps develop a lot of transferable skills, and during an open discussion when reviewing the preparations and implementations in Launceston, the youth within the team came up with the skills they had learnt throughout the journey. These skills included:-
-
Resilience
-
Preparedness
-
Positive Attitude
-
Adaptability - The ability to adapt to change and overcome challenges with a clear focus on the task at hand
-
Perseverance
-
The idea that the hill will end, you may be struggling in the moment but with patience, perseverance and determination you can achieve
-
Living in the moment and enjoying the experience
-
Dis-connection - We don't always need to be glued to devices
-
Co-operation & Teamwork
-
Organisation
-
Interacting and networking with like-minded people
-
Attitude towards materialism & technology - There was no envy between gear that was out there in relation to outdoor gear & technology
-
Empathy
-
Appreciation for the little things … hot showers, beds, untreated water, life luxuries
With a successful outcome and everyone happy with their personal and team achievements, it was time to celebrate and acknowledge all the hard work that went into the success of this amazing Expedition. What better way to celebrate success than with an Op-Shop Fancy Dress Dinner.
So after a hot shower, pizza and a relaxing evening back in the 1st Tamar Sea Scout Hall, our team spent the day walking the streets of Launceston and exploring all the Op-Shops they could find to get themselves prepared for a Fancy Dress fine dining experience. With a booking secured at The Commercial Hotel, everyone got themselves prepared for a wonderful evening of fun, reflection, friendship & laughter.
Walking into The Commercial Hotel the staff and patrons didn't know what was happening ... but we knew and thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful evening to celebrate a successful journey.
