This morning, we woke up to a different day for a variety of reasons ...
- Today was our last day on the Overland Track
- Today we would be starting our journey at 6am
- Today we would be walking in 2 groups ...
- Group 1 ... 17 members of the group walking out to catch the 9:30am Lake St Clair Ferry
- Group 2 ... 2 members of the group walking out to catch the 1pm Lake St Clair Ferry
Before commencing today's journey, two youth leaders checked in on our injured party member and were entertained when the injured person was placed in an expedition pack to be carried out to Lake St Clair today. While the person fitted in the pack, the lack of a seat within the pack meant that this was not a possibility. So, after the entertainment and laughter, all their gear was shared amongst the entire group and everyone departed for Lake St Clair.
A Dawn Departure along the Overland Track
Today was a relaxing walk along the Track as we descended for the majority of the walk towards Lake St Clair. Crossing many streams and enjoying the views of peak on each side, as we moved through the Valley towards the end of our expedition it was a peaceful and enjoyable morning's walk. Arriving at Narcissus Hut, our youth radioed through to the Ferry Company to inform them of their arrival at Lake St Clair and that 2 members of the group are still on the Track with a focus of catching the 1pm Ferry.
Once approved by the Ferry Company, this message was relayed back our two members still walking and enjoying the scenery along the Overland Track.
Today's scenery along the Overland Track
After handrailing the Narcissus River for the majority of today's walk, just prior to arriving at Narcissus Hut we enjoyed the opportunity to cross a swing bridge over the river. Crossing the river offered good views of the river and the peaks of Mount Byron & Mount Olympus through the trees in the distance.

Narcissus River Swing Bridge
Once across the Swing Bridge the Overland Track continued for a short distance to Narcissus Hut, before meandering through the marshlands to the jetty on Lake St Clair where we completed our journey of Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Parks Overland Track.

Fun on the Lake St Clair Jetty at Cynthia Bay
After the enjoyment of a swim in Lake St Clair and the celebration of achievement on the Jetty, walking off the Jetty towards the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre was a walk full of mixed emotions including:-
- Pride
- Accomplishment
- Exhaustion
- Satisfaction
- Connection
After two years of discussion, planning, logistics, training and preparation we had successfully turned a dream into reality and walked Tasmania's Overland Track
Everyone completing the hike & getting through it all.
All that beef jerkey, I didn’t need all that beef jerkey.
