While the weather was beginning to change, today was the first day we tour through the Bogong High Plains and explore the surrounding area. Accepting the challenge of Trip Leader, one of our 1st Ballan Venturers sat down and wrote Trip Intentions for the day which included skiing to Cope Hut, onto the High Plains and around to Wallace's Hut. It was only a short trip but appropriate for the day and the ability of the group.
Departing the Chalet, we continued along the aqueduct before climbing up to Cope Hut, a great location for a break. Once up at the Cope Hut car park, it was decided to modify the tour to follow the Bogong High Plains Road down to Wallace's Hut car park, a much more enjoyable route. While skiing down the road, we were able to look across the Rocky Knobs towards Mount McKay and the Falls Creek Resort, while enjoying views of the Bogong High Plains. Once at Wallace's car park, we followed the walking track into the Hut, skiing through yesterday's ski school area before once again arriving at Wallace's Hut, relaxing and returning to the aqueduct to ski home.
