While on parade this morning you could see the beginnings of a beautiful Alpine Sunrise and as dawn turned into day, we were not disappointed with what we saw. Even as we ate breakfast within the Chalet, the beauty of the sunrise was still on display through the windows, with many people regularly departing the breakfast table to simply go outside to reflect, appreciate, enjoy and witness the stunning sunrise.
An Alpine Sunrise
Due to the snow conditions, we skied back along the aqueduct to Wallace's Hut before heading out to the car park and onto the Bogong High Plains Road. It was a great day for skiing in the shelter of the trees and terrain. As we skied out into Rocky Knobs, we became more exposed with the wind picking up for the first time this week. The Rocky Knobs was fun, and we enjoyed the challenge of skiing out to Investiture Point.

Investiture Point
Invested into the Alpine Venturer Unit
The Bogong Rover Chalet has many traditions, including investing newcomers into the Alpine Venturer Unit or the Alpine Rover Unit for Rovers & Leaders. Situated in the Rocky Knobs investiture point was a location chosen by W.F Waters purely for the stunning views on offer, including views of Victoria's highest peak on a clear day - Mt Bogong. While the skies were overcast today, the views were impressive offering an amazing location for the investitures. However, for the first time today the wind had increased, and with Investiture Point being exposed we all had to endure the chilly wind throughout the ceremony. But it was worth it as everyone was very happy to be invested into the Bogong Rover Chalet Alpine Venturer Unit.

Bogong High Plains - Skiing to Cope Saddle Hut
With investiture complete, everyone quickly disappeared into a more protected location to plan the remainder of the day. It was decided that while a group would return to the Chalet, the Pretty Valley & Cope Saddle Huts Tours would continue, with a strict turnaround time to obey.
So, a small group of intrepid Venturers & Leaders headed out onto the High Plains destined for Cope Saddle Hut. After a couple of days of rain and no snow, sections of the trail needed to be walked, but eventually the group arrived at Cope Saddle Hut in time to relax and enjoy lunch. It was a wonderful achievement in the conditions and as they departed the Hut and headed for home, they knew they'd face a head wind. However, the wind wasn't that bad, and they quickly found themselves at Cope Hut where after some minor ski repairs they continued back to the Chalet to finish an impressive and thoroughly enjoyable day.

Sci-Fi Party Night
Tonight was the Chalet Party night. With the theme of Science Fiction, everyone helped transform the Chalet into a party place, before dressing up and enjoying a very social evening together full of delicious food, conversation, music and games. What made it more enjoyable for the Venturers was the Rovers & Leaders took on the role of Cooks, Slushies & Slavies to ensure everyone could enjoy the evening and have fun together.
Youth SnowVenture Review
Meeting all the new people and making new friends. Getting to do all the skiing after not skiing for a while was pretty cool.
All the worries about SnowVenture and that it wouldn't be good, and all the negative thoughts about skiing because SnowVenture is an awesome experience and great opportunity.
Working on leading on more snow expeditions and leading in a different environment with different people.
