With a 4:45am wake up, we quickly got ourselves out of bed, packed our bags, ate breakfast and prepared to leave.
With some of us in the first group to depart at 5:30am, we stepped outside the Chalet to a stunning pre-dawn sight - a crystal-clear night sky, not too icy snow conditions and a temperature that wasn't that cold. It truly was an amazing morning, and as the sun rose, the day just got better and better offering stunning views throughout our morning tour.
Pre-Dawn & Dawn Skiing
Stop. Just remain quiet for 30 seconds and admire exactly where you are ... has anyone noticed that the snow sparkles, it is glistening? With the crystal-clear stars above us ... We are skiing under a blanket of Stars on a bed of Diamonds.
With improved skiing skills, each group followed the aqueduct and Bogong High Plains Road at their own pace back into Falls Creek. Unfortunately, due to the couple days of rain we experienced while at the Chalet, we had to walk for a few kilometres to get back to Falls Creek making us look like Reindeers as we strapped our skis to our packs and lifted them onto our backs to reveal large antlers above our heads!!!! However, the walk wasn't that bad and in a very comfortable time frame, the entire group had safely arrived backed a Windy Corner, Falls Creek, completing one of the most amazing Venturer experiences available to our youth.
