This morning we woke up to snow. It had been lightly snowing overnight and as we stood on parade it continued to snow. It looked fantastic, once again changing the snow conditions for the better. Today we would not be skiing on ice, and it would be much more enjoyable.
After breakfast and duties, we headed out in two groups to continue alpine skill acquisition as we extended our skills into:-
- Emergency scenario situations
- Emergency shelter building
During the emergency shelter building session, we got to use the Bothy Bags we had been carrying all week. This is a very quick shelter which can remove a couple of people from the elements to help protect them and possibly provide 1st Aid if required. After carrying them all week, it was great to see it in action. We were then challenged to build a snow shelter. Using shovels, poles, a tarp and whatever else we could find, we built a shelter that could accommodate our group and something we were proud of.

Survival Shelter
With shelter building & emergency scenario completed, bags were packed for one last ski to Wallace's Hut where we all enjoyed lunch, both inside and outside the Hut. It was a relaxing afternoon around the Hut that resulted in a snow fight that was enjoyed by all, before heading back to the Chalet.

Youth SnowVenture Review
My costume. Even though it was small, the progress that I was able to make during the week.
My sore feet and the negative mindset that I had on the first day.
The resilience to push though even though I was in pain.
